Ready for Adoption: Sasha!

Sasha is a sweet 4-year-old female who can be described as pretty much your typical Boston Terrier. People and dog-friendly, she is a little treasure. Sasha is fully vetted, ready and excited to find her forever family!

Likes:

  • Everyone! Great with adults, she also lived with respectful children in her previous home and did very well with them.
  • Sasha is a very affectionate gal. Sleeping in the human bed would be appreciated.
  • Car rides. Sasha is always ready for a road trip.
  • Sasha is a very pleasant companion on walks, and as long as the weather is BT approved (not too cold, not too hot, and definitely not too wet) she loves her outdoor adventures.
  • Let’s play ball! Because it’s Sasha’s favourite game by far.
  • She has lived successfully with several different canine companions, from toy to giant size, and done well with them all.
  • Cats? Maybe. She’s had no experience with them to know for sure.

Dislikes:

  • Being left for long periods. She exhibits no separation anxiety and is crate-trained, but like most Bostons she’d rather be included.
  • Storms. Storms are scary! But Sasha is soothed if you are with her.

Need-to-know:

  • Sasha was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and a partially paralyzed esophagus as a puppy. While she still takes Omeprazole, which is an acid reducer, twice daily, she’s been fully examined and her veterinarian has indicated that no other treatment is required. We’ve been getting her prescription filled at a human pharmacy for under $30 a month.
  • Speaking of eating, there is the coprophagia. Which is a nice way of saying she eats her poop. Although not pleasant, this is common behaviour, and there are scores of reasons given for why a dog does this, and just as many suggestions for ways to break this disgusting habit. In Sasha’s case, supervision has been the best way to manage the problem.
  • Sasha – like all dogs – could benefit from continued training. It’s a great way for you to spend fun and quality time together strengthening your bond! She has her basic manners, but her stay and recall definitely need work. Sasha will bolt out an open door when any opportunity arises, and for this reason a fully-fenced yard would be preferred.

There is no doubt that pretty Sasha will make a wonderful and loving companion for one very lucky family!

SASHA • SPAYED FEMALE • FULLY VETTED • 4 YEARS • 17 LBS • FENCED YARD PREFERRED • FOSTERED IN THE CALGARY AREA, AB

Note: From the time applications are opened, through the selection and screening process, adoptions can take approximately three weeks to finalize. We thank everyone who takes the time to apply, but only those who best fit each dog’s requirements in a forever home will be contacted.

Welcome Sasha!

Sasha, four-years-old, is a recent arrival to BTRC. When her owner had to move into assisted-living she was forced to part with Sasha, who went to live with another family member. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best long-term fit. It was felt that the best thing to do would be to transfer her to rescue’s care and we were happy to welcome her. Diagnosed as a puppy with a partially paralyzed esophagus and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Sasha has some issues that need further investigation and treatment.

Sasha is settling into her foster home, and we will share more as we get to know her better.

Sasha is being fostered in Alberta.
