ADOPTABLE – NORMAN!

After 3 months in his foster home Norman has completed all his vetting, continues to make progress with his training and is ready to find his forever home.

Norman entered his foster home shy and a little timid and has evolved into a 30 lb. brindle ball of love!

If Norman could write his own want ad to find the perfect forever home, we imagine it would go something like this: 5-year-old Boston Terrier/Pug cross in search of a family to love and adore.  I promise to love and cuddle and snuggle you on the couch, in your bed, your office chair, patio set, campfire, tub, anywhere really and trust me I have the springs in my legs that will help me get there! If you in turn promise the same love and affection right back!”

Norman’s ideal home would have him as the centre of attention.  While he has become friends with his Boston Terrier foster brother he does not appear fond of dogs larger than he is. Introductions to another similar-sized dog in the home would need to be slow and closely monitored and any canine companion would need to be laid-back and calm. Norman would be just as happy to be your one and only. We recommend a home without cats.

Norman is fully house trained and is not destructive in the home. He is progressing well with crate training however he has shown some signs of separation anxiety and we would suggest a family where someone is home often and willing to continue to work on this with him.  Norman has been working very hard to not get excited and vocal when people come and go but will also require this training to continue.  No need for a doorbell if Norman hears or sees someone approaching – he will bark to alert the household. Due to his vocal nature a detached home is recommended. He gets quite excited when his people come home and has been known to jump right into his foster mom’s arms to greet her!  While Norman continues to work on this behaviour and keeping four paws on the floor, it is for this reason we don’t recommend Norman to a family with children under 6 as he may knock them down when he’s excited.

Norman has mastered some basic commands, has a very strong recall and has adjusted quite quickly to household routines in his foster home.  One perk to his foster brother being on daily meds is that Norman also gets a piece of cheese each night for a bedtime snack and he would love if this routine could continue! Norman loves to spend time outside. He is getting better on a leash with each walk, and he would love a family that will take him hiking where he can be outdoors with his people and enjoy all the smells.

Norman’s foster family is very sad to see him go but know there is a family out there ready to fall head over heels in love with this little man much like they have!

WHAT’S NEW WITH NORMAN?

It’s been a busy summer and as we enter September, a check-in with Norman is past due.

Norman has been working very hard on his training, and he’s a clever boy so that’s coming along well. He was a bit perturbed when he misunderstood and thought his last trip to the vet was for “tutoring” (his neuter was the last of his vetting that needed to be completed).

The family trip to the beach was a blast, though!

This handsome lad will soon be ready to find a forever family of his very own, so stay tuned!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NORMAN!

Lucky Norman! His foster family took him to the pet store in celebration of his 5th Birthday on July 26.  We’re not sure that he’d ever had free choice in a pet store before – he was pretty thorough in checking out everything! Once done sniffing every possible selection, his final choice for his birthday toy was a cute little turtle.

Happy 5 Norman!!

PAW-TY!

BTRC foster Norman recently celebrated his foster brother’s “Gotcha Day”. Even though he can be a bit jealous of Steve at times, overall they are becoming friends.
His foster mom has some pretty great things to say about Norman. He is a quick study, picking up on the household routines, walking better on leash and his recall is getting more consistent. And, she says, that he “quite possibly has more love to give than any person or dog I’ve ever met!”
Good boy Norman! 💕

NORM!!!

Introducing Norman! Norman is a 4-year-old Boston Terrier/Pug mix who came to rescue when his owner could no longer care for him. This handsome brindle boy needs to catch up on all his routine vetting like vaccinations and parasite testing and will also be neutered. 🎾 🎾

In the meantime, he’s getting settled in at his foster home. Although it’s early days, he’s already making friends with the resident Boston Terrier and very much enjoying the company of the family’s two school aged children. 😁

Norman is being fostered in the Niagara Region of Ontario. As we are still getting to know him, and his vetting has yet to be completed, applications for Norman are not being accepted at this time.
