We are very sad to share the passing of BTRC alum Lulu. Adopted in 2009, this once wild and crazy pup, who in her prime could jump any barrier, counted among her many talents a gift for getting skunked, being a daddy’s girl and mom’s loyal work companion, helping to raise her human brother and most of all, loving her family beyond measure.

Our condolences to Lulu’s family, with our thanks for giving Lulu such an amazing, happy life. Run free and healthy at the Bridge Lulu. 💕🌈

Lulu Update: November 2021

As we honour our senior pets this November, we would like to share a heartwarming update on one of our alum. Lulu’s family writes:

“In 2009 our family was still recovering from the loss of our Boston Terrier from a brain tumour. We heard of a a little Frenchie/BT cross looking for a new home through BTRC. Our little family drove to Toronto, met Lulu and a couple weeks later, Lulu came to live with us. Lulu, in her younger years was a quirky little handful. She could jump just about any barrier; a big dog in a little doggie’s body. My husband Gary is her person. She follows him just about everywhere in the house and is always ready to go out for a walk, but maybe not very far.

Lulu is now 14 and can’t jump like she used to (but who can?). She needs puppy stairs to get up on our bed. She is completely deaf, and her eyesight is poor. She’s thinner and is fussier with her food. She won’t always walk the block, especially if it is cold, rainy or snowing. When we travel, we take her with us as we think boarding her is too stressful at this stage in her life even though she LOVES to go to her kennel and see her friends.  Much of her time is spent curled up on the sofa in the basement close to Gary as he works or on the doggie bed under my desk, which is close to a heat register. In the evenings, she’s curled up next to whichever body is on a sofa. When it is close to bedtime, she will stare us down as if to say, “Hey, it’s past your bedtime!”

We know that our days with Lulu are numbered.  She has been a wonderful companion and we will be heartbroken when she is no longer here.  We are thankful that BTRC thought she would be a welcome addition to our house. They were not wrong. Gary and I have watched our son grow and Lulu age together. We love her more as each day passes.”

Thank you for giving Lulu such a wonderful home, and for making sure Lulu’s sunset years are full of warmth and love. ❤️
