KELLY UPDATE JULY 2022
An update too long in coming – Kelly has been in foster care since February! The lack of updates is totally the fault of BTRC’s social media person (ironically, also named Kelly). And dog Kelly’s five month stay in rescue can mostly be chalked up to necessary veterinary care.
It’s not that Kelly has any real serious health concerns, rather just a series of delays.
First, Kelly had a significant worm infestation. Her spay had to be postponed until she was parasite free. Next, dental x-rays revealed a broken tooth, and because of its location and some breathing issues noted by her foster, it was decided her dental would best be done by a specialist. This was completed in mid-April, and during that procedure it was confirmed that Kelly’s nares were narrow and that she would benefit from surgery. Another wait for a specialist – but Kelly did undergo an operation to open her nares on July 21 and is now recovering.
Whew!
As for Kelly’s personality, her foster reports that she makes the best companion. She has an adorable habit of deeply sniffing you instead of the traditional kiss – just trying to breathe you all in. A total lovebug, Kelly likes to be close to her person (not so much with other dogs). She also keeps ’em laughing with her funny faces and comical expressions.
Kelly will soon be ready to find her forever family, so stay tuned!

INTRODUCING KELLY
Kelly came to BTRC from a shelter. Sadly, she is not in the best physical shape. 😢 We are pretty sure that she was used for breeding, and her lack of housetraining suggests she wasn’t always a house dog. Given her overall condition, and her broken and missing teeth, it is difficult even to establish her age, although she is a mature adult so we’re putting her at 5ish.
Kelly is now getting settled in her foster home, and has a veterinary appointment booked for the end of the week. We will let you know what we learn and ask in the meantime that you send lots of ‘pawsitive’ thoughts Kelly’s way.
Kelly is being fostered in Ottawa, ON. As she is still being assessed, she is not ready for adoption at this time.
