HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Dear Santa Paws,
Hi there! My name is Franky but you can call me Fanks like my foster mommy does. I hope you are doing good Santa.
Just in case you missed it, I have a new address this year. I just love my home here with my foster mommy and brother (he’s a Boston Terrier too).
I’ve learned so much since I got here. My foster mommy tells me I always try very hard to do the right thing and that I’m a very good girl… and that on Christmas you come to visit good boys and girls and bring them special things.
If you want a few ideas, I recently learned to fetch with my foster bro. I would really like a little orange Chuck-it bally of my very own! I also love to snuggle with a stuffie so you could bring me one of those too – a pink one? And I know this is a big one Santa, but if I could maybe stay here forever that would make my heart so happy. (And it’s easier for you to find me too when I’m not moving all around right?)
Thank you for reading my letter Santa. Hope to see you soon!
Love,
Franky

W-A-N-T-E-D!
Does this look like the face of a common criminal? Does this dog look the least bit guilty to you? No! This is BTRC foster Franky, relaxing without a care in the world after successfully pulling off a treat heist from Ren’s Pets in Halifax.
Having recovered from her eye enucleation surgery, Franky wanted to hit the town with some friends. Her foster mom did not realize it was for nefarious purposes.
Franky did not act alone. BTRC foster Stitch and BTRC alum Herb were part of her gang, most likely providing a diversion with their cuteness.
Ren’s Pets is a great supporter of BTRC, and now we must wait anxiously to see if Wanted Posters with BTRC dogs are posted in all Ren’s locations nation-wide!

Franky Update
As Boston Terrier people will know, corneal ulcers are sadly an all-too-common eye issue with the breed. Their large, expressive and prominent eyes are easily injured, and there are many reasons, both external and genetic, which make it difficult for ulcers to heal.
Unfortunately, Franky had a large, deep ulcer that a strict regimen of drops, ointments, and medications, followed religiously by her dedicated foster mom, could not fix. Surgical intervention in the way of an eye graph was not possible as Franky’s eye was too badly damaged.
So, on Thursday October 6, Franky’s left eye was removed.
Franky is doing remarkably well! For her, the pain is gone, and that’s the most important thing. She enjoyed her first Thanksgiving with her foster family – she REALLY enjoyed the delicious treats that the family feast provided!
And there is more to be thankful for as well! If you remember, Franky came to us with some suspicious masses and lumps. These have been biopsied and the results are in – there is no cancer! Amazing news!

Welcome Franky!
Franky came to us as a transfer from another rescue in Quebec. Ten years of age, she has submandibular masses (tumours/swelling of her salivary glands) and testing done before her arrival was inconclusive. Franky is not spayed, and will need all her other routine vetting including vaccinations, parasite testing and preventative, but our priority right now is further diagnostics of these masses.
According to her foster mom, Franky is “such a good girly!” She has already become fast friends with her Boston foster bro, who is being the ultimate host, sharing his toys and teaching her the finer points of his neighbourhood watch duties.
We are crossing our fingers for good news from the veterinarian and look forward to getting to know this lovely lady better!
