Emmy has been officially adopted, and from the looks of things, it’s going pretty well at her new home! 😂

Emmy quickly made herself comfortable in her new digs and, even more importantly, with her new person, who has described her as a mix of “sweet and saucy.” We think another ‘s’ word might also apply…spoiled!

Congratulations to all; we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Today is Emmy’s birthday and she wants nothing more than a human to call her very own!

Now on the hunt for her forever home, Emmy’s future didn’t always look so bright. Scheduled to be euthanized because she was not getting along with a new dog in her home, Emmy was thankfully surrendered to BTRC instead and she has proven to be a wonderful and loveable companion.

Emmy may be nine, but nine is the new five don’t you know? Peppy, playful and full of life, this little lady is always ready to join her people on whatever adventure they have planned.

Emmy’s favourite activity is whatever her humans are doing. A long road trip? She will be the first one in the car! Planning to stay in and enjoy a quiet night on the couch? Just grab an extra blanket for Emmy and she will curl right up beside you to keep you company. Hike or walk? Emmy is always excited to see her harness and coat and has been working very hard to be a great walking companion. She will happily walk alongside you with the occasional stop to sniff out her surroundings but will pull when she spots another 4-legged creature. Like many Bostons, when planning for outdoor activities, Emmy appreciates the assistance of a meteorologist as she also believes she’s part sugar and will melt if out in the rain for extended periods – so walks and hikes are weather permitting! 😂

Emmy is working on her hockey skills and loves a good game of mini sticks with her 10-year-old human foster brother, which most often turns into a game of fetch once she steals the ball. If the sun is shining, Emmy is also content to hang out in the yard, and, staying true to her love of activity and adventure, she is on full-time squirrel patrol!

Emmy truly adores her people and has yet to meet a human big or small that she has not fallen instantly in love with. She loves attention and pats and will raise a paw to ask you to rub her belly just a little longer. Her eyes are the essence of the term “puppy dog eyes” because they are truly irresistible. And, when she sits up tall with her paws in the air, it’s impossible to refuse those extra scritches!

Emmy is currently being fostered with two other Boston Terriers and while her foster family is working to get her more comfortable when around other dogs, Emmy is best suited for a pet-free home (this also means no cats). This girl truly wants to be your one and only!

While Emmy isn’t a fan of her two canine foster siblings, she is a fan of their toys. When Emmy arrived in her foster home, she quickly discovered the toy box and sorted through it to find her favourites to show and share with her humans. In true Boston Terrier fashion, Emmy can de-stuff and de-squeak a toy in record time but will happily continue to play with the shell while she watches her person pick up the fluff!

Emmy is not a fan of her crate, but if left alone is not destructive. While Emmy is happiest while in the company of her people, she will patiently wait for them to return, greeting them with excitement and wiggles. She will bark when appropriate (someone ringing the doorbell or entering or exiting the house), but she settles quickly. Fully house-trained, Emmy is still working on her basic commands and though not very treat motivated, her willingness to please her humans makes her a great student.

With her vetting and vaccines up to date, along with her extra-kissable mouth after her dental, Emmy is ready to embark on the search for a forever family. If you are looking for a loving, playful and loyal companion and feel you can meet Emmy’s needs, please complete the Adoption Form, found HERE.

Introducing Emmy!

8-year-old Emmy was surrendered to BTRC because she was not getting along with a new dog in her home, and the conflict had escalated to the point that it was not safe. Sometimes options to resolve these stressful situations seem limited. Emmy was scheduled to be euthanized, but her owner decided instead to give her a second chance with BTRC.

Emmy has not been with us long, but so far, Emmy’s foster mom has nothing but rave reviews! This beautiful girl is sweet, snuggly and super friendly. Quiet and polite, she loves bum scratches and being close to her humans. You will often find her sleeping in her preferred position – belly up! She figures this is easier access for human kisses and scratches. ❤

We were told that Emmy did at one time live successfully with other canines. She’s presently being fostered in a no-other-pet home, so we still need to try and determine if the issue was just with the one particular dog or if, with proper introductions, she can once again happily live with another pooch.

Emmy has some vet care coming up, but in the meantime, she is more than happy to enjoy her calm environment and a daily schedule of snuggle, walk, play and repeat.

Emmy is being fostered in the Niagara Region of Ontario and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
