Drum Roll Please! The Dynamic Duo is Ready for Adoption!
Pirate Bob and Jewel, the “twins”, are 7-year-old littermates looking for a home that will love them both together. Bob and Jewel came into care when their elderly owner had a change in living arrangements and could no longer keep them. Many tears were shed. They have since been enjoying the Okanagan Lifestyle in British Columbia.
It was obvious to their foster family that these two were well loved. Since their unexpected move, they have become great friends with the two resident Bostons. They are honourary members of the neighborhood watch and help their foster brothers ensure that everything is A-OK.
Don’t let their age fool you. Although they are very happy being couch potatoes, sleeping most of the day away while the foster parents are at work, they love to run and play outside. These two don’t seem to mind the cooler temperatures as they love to get dressed up in their outerwear. If a car ride is needed, they will jump at the chance to be your co-pilot. They travel very well.
Jewel’s name says it all, she is a jewel. Maybe a little bit of a diamond in the rough, as she can be anxious when seeing strange dogs on walks, but she is constantly making progress to overcome that. She has found her happy place in the forest on trails checking out her surroundings and has very good recall.
Bob is also a very sweet little love bug. He has acquired a few nicknames along the way… Super Bob Osborne and Ricky Bobby… this kid is fast! On walks he is very focused at the task at hand, which means he also likes to take you along for the ride. His little 15lb body is easy to keep in check, but he has been using the assistance of an easy walk harness to control his pulling. He is working on his leash manners and has potential to be the perfect gentleman.
Neither dog is overly excited about toys but would never say no to a treat. Both are crate trained, but if given the opportunity, they will choose your comfy couch or keep your bed warm for you when left alone in the house. No need for a heated blanket with these two. The closer they can be to you the happier they are. These little love bugs will make you feel like a million bucks every time you arrive home. They let you know that you are the best part of their day and I guarantee they will be the best part of yours as well.
Bob and Jewel are both in very good health and have completed thorough veterinary evaluations and dental surgeries. Both now have glimmering pearly whites and very fresh kisses!
They have not lived with cats in their current foster home – their previous owner reported that they were cat chasers, so their ability to peacefully live with a feline friend is unknown. As their owner was elderly, they had little interaction with small children, and so are uncomfortable around the little ones. For that reason we will not adopt to a home with children under the age of 12. While they have successfully lived with two other Bostons in foster care, they are quite protective of, and dependent on, each other. Bob is the more social of the two, while Jewel is more hesitant and needs a proper introduction to other dogs. The ideal home for Bob and Jewel would be one without other dogs, as they really are each other’s favourite companions. Aside from being yours, of course! A ready-made family – what more could you ask for?
Bob and Jewel will not be separated so whoever adopts them is making a lifelong commitment to both dogs. So, if you are looking for two little shadows that think you are #1, PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION HERE.
Bob and Jewel are presently being fostered in BC. We do allow out-of-province adoptions, as long as you are able to travel to pick up the dogs in person.
NOTE: From the time applications are opened, through the selection and screening process, adoptions can take approximately three weeks to finalize. We thank everyone who takes the time to apply, but only those who best fit each dog’s requirements in a forever home will be contacted.

Pirate Bob and Jewel both had their dental surgeries on Tuesday and are recovering well! If you recall, when they were initially booked for their dentals, it was discovered that each had serious issues which would need the attention of a veterinary dental specialist.
Unerupted, twisted, cracked and crowded teeth have all been taken care of. Bostons and their mouths 🙃 They were both a bit understandably sore, but dogs are so resilient. Bob and Jewel are very good at taking their medication, and canned food – well, thanks foster mom! That’s just a bonus!
Jewel’s lump was also tested and came back as a lipoma (fatty tumour) and is nothing to worry about. 🎉
With the number of extraordinary medical cases in rescue this past year, you would think that we’d be better prepared for the sticker shock. But veterinary expenses for these two generally healthy dogs have totalled $8810.44! A huge shout out and heartfelt thanks to Susan C. of BC who made a generous donation towards their dental surgeries. ❤️

Bob and Jewel have seen the vet and both are in overall good health! Each has some mild plaque, so they’ll be getting a dental cleaning to maintain those pearly whites. Jewel has a bump which the vet suspects is a lipoma (a very common fatty benign growth), but just to err on the side of caution, we’ll get a fine needle aspirate done to confirm.
Although they have happily befriended their foster canine siblings (who are both male Boston Terriers) Bob and Jewel are very close and when they are fully vetted, we will be searching for forever home where this pair of bonded siblings can stay together.
Ahoy! Welcome aboard ye ol’ seadog ‘n yer booty!
Yes, it’s a pirate two-fer! Pirate Bob and Jewel are seven-year-old siblings that came to Rescue together when their older owner moved in with family – there were too many dogs for one household. He knew that BTRC could find them a new loving home where they would get the attention they deserve and we’re grateful for his trust.
We’re just getting to know this sweet pair and will update you as we learn more.
NOTE: Pirate Bob and Jewel are being fostered in BC. We are still assessing them so they are not yet ready to be considered for adoption. BTRC DOES NOT MAINTAIN A WAITING LIST, SO NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME.
