Everyone at BTRC was saddened to learn of the recent passing of alum Zowie.

Zowie came to Rescue in 2011, badly traumatized and very scared. Shortly after her arrival, she gave birth to four puppies. And as her puppies grew, so did her trust and love for her then foster family. It came as no surprise that when the puppies went off to their new homes, Zowie had no reason to look for hers – she was already home.

From her Mom: “Thus marked the beginning of a lifetime bonding of two souls. Although she is gone, Zowie will live forever in my heart. She was a very special dog… she ruled her dog buddy Beasley with an iron paw but always groomed his face and ears as a gesture of affection. She knew how to manipulate her Dad to get a bit of his ice cream after dinner but her real passion was fish. This little lady could destroy a fillet in under 10 seconds… and go looking for more.

I still feel her soft fur on my feet when I sit down at my computer. But when I turn to ask her a question… because we had many conversations… she is no longer there.”

“I will miss her for a very long time. The pain will ease, and the memories will eventually bring joy. But for now, those memories are riding in a sea of tears. R.I.P. Zowie… I will always love you.”

Our hearts go out to Zowie’s family. We are grateful that Zowie spent her life so loved. ️
